When reviewing a few recent late-onset GBS cases in the NICU, we started to look at certain practices including how/where frozen breast milk and formula is prepped. Our inpatient NICU rooms are relatively small with limited counter space, yet this is where most of the prep occurs. Can you tell me how you have managed this process, is it done in a central location or at the bedside? And what type of instructions are generally given to parents regarding the process? Additionally, anecdotally we are hearing there may be more cases of late-onset GBS occurring across the country, are you seeing this as well or is it likely just due to the fact that the early-onset cases have declined causing more light to be shed on the late-onset cases?
