About

Welcome to APIC Inland Empire Chapter 074!
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is the leading professional association for infection preventionists (IPs), with more than 15,000 members. Most APIC members are nurses, physicians, public health professionals, epidemiologists, microbiologists, and medical technologists.
The APIC Inland Empire chapter covers the region south and east of Los Angeles and encompasses more than 27.000 square miles of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The Inland Empire has a population of approximately 4 million inhabitants that continues to grow as people search for affordable housing.
The Inland Empire was originally a major agricultural center. It is now a mix of suburban and rural areas strong in distribution, tourism, industrial and commercial development.
WHAT'S NEW?

During the May IE APIC meeting, there were several questions regarding changes in reporting for COVID-19. Of note, CA AFL 21-25 for uploading the SFT on discharged patients was rescinded on May 9, 2024. Thanks for the clarification, Gretchen!
Shannon mentioned an NHSN email regarding an update on reporting of respiratory pathogen, bed capacity, and supply data (Hospital COVID-19 Data) to NHSN. The information is on the CDC website.
