Smruti Damania, MT (ASCP), MSc. works as a corporate level Infection Preventionist for Beacon Health System. She has 3 years of Infection Prevention experience. Smruti is an ASCP certified Medical Technologist and prior to her current position as an Infection Preventionist, Smruti worked for 15 years within the microbiology department of a large community-based reference microbiology lab (South Bend Medical Foundation, later acquired by LabCorp), wearing various hats over the years as clinical educator, technical specialist and as supervisor. With her microbiology lab background, Smruti has a strong passion for diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship, with multidrug resistant organisms and C.difficile prevention being areas of focus. She has been an APIC IN Region 2 member for the past 3 years.
