Meet Our Board

Lori Getts President
Lori Getts RN, BSN, CHEP, CIC has 18 years of infection prevention experience in both acute care and most recently ambulatory care. She is part of the Parkview Health System Infection Prevention team in Northeastern Indiana. Prior to her current position in infection prevention, she served many years as a house supervisor on the night shift.  She received her Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing from Indiana University/Purdue University Fort Wayne and is certified in Infection Prevention as well as Emergency Preparedness. She has served on the APIC IN Program committee for 16 years, 3 years as Program Chair, 6 years as APIC IN librarian, 7 years as APIC IN treasurer and is currently the APIC IN President.

President-Elect

Kelly Manning, RN, BSN, CIC, FAPIC is has 32 years of infection prevention experience and is currently the Infection Prevention Director at Hancock Health in Greenfield, IN. Prior to her current position she was an Infection Preventionist in the IU Health and Community Health Network systems. She also worked with the Indiana State Department of Health under a grant for Antibiotic Resistance Containment. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and is certified in Infection Prevention. Kelly also earned the distinction of Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. She has served over 5 years as the APIC Region 6 Director, 3 years as an APIC Indiana Board Member, 4 years as the APIC Indiana secretary, and 2 years as the APIC Indiana President. Her goals are to continue to advance the science of infection prevention and to support APIC members through leadership, mentoring, and education.

Past President

Shanna Smith, BSN, MBA,RN, CIC is a Manager of Infection Control at Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis. She has 7 years of Infection Prevention experience. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Indianapolis and Master of Business Administration-Healthcare Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Shanna served on the APIC Indiana Board of Directors for 2 years.  Prior to her work in Infection Prevention, Shanna was a pediatric and behavioral health Registered Nurse.

Treasurer
Rhonda Blevins, BS, MLS(ASCP), CIC currently manages the Infection Prevention & Control program at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, MI and has over 20 years of experience in infection prevention and control. She resides in northeast Indiana and has been board certified in infection prevention since 2015 and an APIC-IN member since 2001. Prior to her involvement with infection prevention, she was a certified clinical lab scientist and worked as both a generalist and microbiology lead. She graduated from Manchester College with a double-major Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology. She was certified as a Medical Technologist following an internship at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She has been a member of the Program Committee since 2015 and is currently serving in her second term as the APIC-IN Treasurer. 

Gene Davis Secretary

Gene Davis MHA, RN is an Infection Preventionist at Witham Health Services in Lebanon, Indiana. He has been doing Infection Prevention for 16 years. Gene received his diploma in Nursing from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Indiana University. Gene has served one term on the Board of Directors of Indiana APIC and is now starting his second term as the State Secretary for APIC Indiana. Gene’s nursing background includes: Critical Care, Cardiac Cath Lab, Endoscopy and Nursing Administration. Gene serves as the Survey Readiness Coordinator (Joint Commission) for his hospital.

Jeffory Zedaker, RN, BSN, CIC, CCHM has been an Infection Preventionist at Parkview Health for 4.5 years. He is certified in infection control and construction in healthcare management. Jeff is also the current Region 3 director. 

Adam Hartman, MPH, BSN, BS, RN, CIC has been an infection preventionist at Parkview Health since April, 2021. He obtained a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Western Michigan University a BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Masters in Public Health from Michigan State University. He currently serves as a member for the APIC IN board of directors and Region 3 Director. Prior to joining Infection Prevention Adam worked as a bedside nurse for Parkview. Outside of his work in infection prevention Adam often volunteers his time doing medical missions work around the globe.


Brittany Crumpacker, BSN, RN, CIC is the Infection Preventionist for IU Health System Health Solutions, serving areas such as Home Health, Hospice, Urgent Cares, Sterile Compounding Pharmacies, Warehouse/Distribution, Sleep Labs, and RT/DME. She has 15 years of Infection Prevention experience. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University. Brittany has served as a past APIC Indiana Board of Directors member. Prior to her work in Infection Prevention, Brittany was a pediatric and infusion Registered Nurse. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family of 6, reading, photography, and hanging out with the family goats.


Amy Lau, DNP, RN, CIC, HACP-CMS is the Infection Control Officer for Deaconess Health System, serving healthcare facilities in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. She has 12 years of infection prevention experience with 29 years of nursing experience. She completed her DNP and MSN degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University. Before working in infection prevention, Amy worked primarily in endoscopy and surgery departments.


Heather Kaiser, BS, ASN, RN, CIC, CPHQ is the Infection Prevention Manager for Cameron Health in Angola, IN. She has 11 years of infection prevention experience and 22 years of nursing experience. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-medicine from Tri-State University, an Associate degree in nursing from Purdue University Fort Wayne and is certified in Infection Prevention and Healthcare Quality. Heather has been an APIC member for 11 years and has led the Northeastern Indiana Patient Safety Coalition since January 2025. She is looking forward to serving APIC Indiana as a board member.
