The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology Eastern Iowa Chapter
(EIAPIC)


  • EIAPIC is one of several regional APIC chapters that covers the region of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
  • It is comprised of infection preventionists in various healthcare settings particularly in hospitals, nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

 

Who We Are

 

  • EIAPIC members consist of infection preventionists both novice and experts board certified in infection prevention of various backgrounds from nurses to epidemiologists, physicians, and public health background.
  • Approximately 80 active members make up the EIAPIC body. With regularly scheduled meetings to share knowledge in the field of infection prevention and epidemiology through educational sessions, EIAPIC provides a robust network of infection prevention and control resource.
  • Infection prevention and control is essential in today’s healthcare setting. Increasing number of antibiotic resistant organisms, many new infections, and the resurgence of some vaccine preventable diseases make the role of the infection preventionist more relevant than ever before.
  • You never have to feel like the only infection preventionist at your facility. EIAPIC chapter is here to offer support through shared knowledge and expertise through our chapter members.

 

Goals of Eastern Iowa APIC

 

  • To direct, support and improve the practice and management of infection control and the application of epidemiology based on evidence-based practices.
