Member Engagement Committee (MEC) and MEC Liaison Overview

What is the MEC?

The Member Engagement Committee (MEC) is responsible for adding value to APIC membership through the creation and implementation of of new membership policies and programs. The committee oversees the development of new membership initiatives and engagement programs and also provides oversight for chapters and sections.

The group partners with APIC staff, members, and leaders to enhance the APIC members experience.

What is the MEC Liaison?

The liaison is an experienced IP and long-term member who typically has extensive experience working with their own local chapter(s). The goal of each liaison is to serve as an additional resource for their assigned chapter leaders by providing leadership counsel and advice, as well as directing leaders to the information, tools and resources they need.

What is Our Role?

Your MEC liaison is positioned to journey alongside you through your time as a chapter leader to help you maximize your leadership experience. Often as one with similar experiences, your MEC liaison can share their own experiences and help you navigate the chapter leader pathway.

Whether you are new to chapter leadership, a veteran chapter leader looking for other opportunities to lead within APIC, or anywhere in between, your liaison will provide support as you gain the necessary information, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to be an effective leader.

How Do the MEC Liaisons Support You?

The Member Engagement Committee and your assigned liaison want to support and coach you in the ways of effective chapter leadership. To do this, your liaison will reach out periodically to chapter presidents and new chapter leaders to lend their support.

They will also foster an open line of communication through which you can reach out to them directly with specific needs or questions you might have. Any leader is welcome to contact their liaison if or when they need help. We will tap into our experience and share advice to help make your most challenging chapter leadership issues more manageable.
