Vision & Mission

The mission of the APIC Pine Tree Chapter is to improve the health of the people of Maine by serving the needs and aims common to all disciplines that are united by infection prevention, control and epidemiology activities.

The APIC Pine Tree Chapter was formed in 1998. Chapter members are from acute care prospective payment systems, critical access hospitals, behavioral health, ambulatory care, long term care and physician practices. In 2014, the APIC Pine Tree chapter merged with the Maine Infection Prevention Collaborative to collectively advance the national goals of APIC for the people in the State of Maine.

The goals of the Pine Tree Chapter are:

  2. To position APIC as the leader in the practice of infection prevention and control and the application of epidemiology.
  3. To ensure APIC’s mission is supported by its resources and activities.
  4. Demonstrate and support effective infection prevention as a key component of patient safety.
  5. Influence and facilitate legislative, accreditation, and regulatory agendas for infection prevention with consumers, policy makers, health care leaders, and personal across the health care continuum.
