Hello! Curious about other CAH and LTCF policies for cleaning bedside commodes. Currently our nursing staff dumps/rinses in toilet after each use. And for extended stay patients and the LTC residents nursing/CNA does a weekly thorough cleaning in the shower area which involves soaking pot with bleach/water and spraying commode frame with shower nozzle, disinfectant spray, letting sit and hosing off. Same process for cleaning after patient discharge. Staff wear PPE of course. But the whole process just seems very splashy to me.
What do other CAH's do to clean the whole commode?
Also, I am considering proposing a switch to disposable liners but am looking for some good info to back up my proposal.
