During the 2024 Fall Conference, APIC NC will be working with the Durham VA to collect donation items to benefit Veterans in need.
The APIC NC Board will be donating backpacks and we would like our conference attendees to donate items to fill the backpacks, so they can be distributed to those in need.
Some items to consider donating include:
- Individually wrapped non-perishable food items
- Granola/snack bars
- Fruit/vegetable cups
- Juice boxes
- Crackers ("nabs")
- Canned food items with pull-tops
- Soups
- Meats
- Vegetables
- Beans
- Bottled water/drinks
- Hydration packets
- Peanut butter
- Individually wrapped plastic cutlery
- Full size unisex toiletry items
- Shampoo & conditioner
- Body wash
- preferred over bar soap, but bar soap also accepted
- Deodorant
- Toothpaste & toothbrush
- Hair tools
- Feminine hygiene products
- Refillable water bottles
- Travel containers (toothbrush holder, bar soap holder, zip lock bags, etc.)
- Unisex clothing items
- T-shirts
- Shorts
- Sweatpants
- Sweatshirts
- Gendered clothing items
- Underwear
- Socks
- Shoes
- Wireless bras
Anything else (as long as it does NOT require refrigeration) not mentioned in this list is also accepted. There are many Veterans in the Durham area who depend on these supplies to get through the month, and when the Durham VA has overflow of supplies they share with other locations.

A representative from the Durham VA will be on-site during the conference to receive donations and answer questions.
