Job Description:
Directs and implements a coordinated Infection Prevention and Control program for Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Hospital. Ensures compliance with applicable governmental, regulatory and accreditation standards. Prioritizes, coordinates and delegates ongoing surveillance of hospital patients to identify infections through established criteria. Coordinates needed epidemic investigations according to publish health, CMS, TJC and CDC standards. Ensures that there is a planned and systematic process to monitoring an evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of care provided by the department; implements corrective action as necessary.Coordinates and monitors reporting of pertinent information to the State and Local Health Departments and CDC according to each agency's respective protocol. Provides consultation on Infection Prevention and Control issues throughout the hospital. Coordinates and assesses the need for formal and internal education programs regarding Infection Prevention and Control as appropriate for all departments.
Requirements: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field; BS in an appropriate healthcare field including microbiology, nursing, medical; technology or epidemiology. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or University. Master's degree preferred; 3-5 years experience; ASOP - American Society of Clinical Pathology Cert; Maryland Registered Nurse License; Certification Board of Infection Control; Demonstrates the ability to follow verbal instructions; Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively verbally; Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in writing.
