Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program

The Virginia Department of Health Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Program focuses on the following:

• Surveillance of HAIs, antibiotic use, antimicrobial resistance, healthcare worker influenza vaccination
• Investigation of HAI outbreaks, and single cases of novel antimicrobial or antifungal resistance
• Communication and Education
• Collaboration with local, state, and national partners

The VDH HAI/AR Program supports infection preventionists by partnering with APIC-VA and healthcare facilities on education and surveillance initiatives.
