The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc (APIC) Smoky Mountain Chapter 79 was founded in 1982 by a small group of infection prevention nurses. Their goal was to help their community by expanding the field of infection prevention through education, networking and sharing resources. Today our chapter has grown to 80+ members who represent acute care hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long-term care, home health, surgery centers, public health, laboratory consultants, supply vendors, research, employee health, industrial medicine, quality and medical administration.
