Welcome to the Northwest Ohio APIC Chapter 93 website

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is a national organization dedicated to preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections. APIC Northwest Ohio Chapter 093 includes practitioners in healthcare facilities across 17 counties in northwestern Ohio. The chapter has approximately 70 members who represent hospitals, outpatient surgery facilities, home health and hospice agencies and other organizations affiliated with healthcare infection prevention. Meetings occur every other month at a location that rotates between member facilities on a volunteer basis. Meetings may include educational presentations, case study discussion from the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC), article reviews, and discussion of standards, regulations, laws and guidelines affecting our practice and patients’ safety. The chapter offers educational support to national, regional and local conferences and seminars for those members meeting criteria. We sponsor an annual Spring Conference on infection prevention-related topics, bringing in national and regional speakers.

The general purpose of the chapter is to improve health by serving the needs and aims common to all disciplines that are united by infection control and epidemiology activities. The goals of the chapter are:

  • To direct, support and improve the practice and management of infection control and the application of epidemiology
  • To position APIC as the leader in the practice of infection control and the application of epidemiology
  • To ensure that APIC’s mission is supported by its resources and activities
