During my 8-year tenure as Director of Nursing for an outpatient gastrointestinal surgical center, I have increased patient volume steadily while maintaining a static cost per procedure ratio. I accomplished this by redesigning the staffing model to optimize peak efficiency and accountability between all members of the healthcare team. I am also responsible for pharmaceutical and patient care oriented materials management. By restructuring and opening additional vendor contracts I have been able to carefully navigate the challenging landscape of pharmaceutical recalls and back-orders with no adverse effects to the facility’s on-going case load.
I am the facility Infection Preventionist and directly oversee all staff competency training for Fire and Life Safety. I have successfully navigated the facility through multiple DPH, CMS, and AAAHC inspections with strong outcomes. I was Project Manager for the implementation of our electronic medical records and practice management system. I continue to act as the first-tier desktop service technician for our daily IT needs.
With nearly ten years of critical care experience in a cardiac intensive care unit, many years as an EMT for a paramedic intercept program, a certified GI Tech, clinical director and instructor for a medical assistant program, and an anesthesia technician; I have a wide breadth of knowledge and adapt well to any situation with a pragmatic and systematic approach.
