Prior to 1982, I held the following positions in the health care industry: MT ASCP (Clinical Microbiology), Instructor (Clinical Microbiology), Research Associate (Molecular Biology), IC Epidemiologist (Hospital Infection Control Program), and Infection Control Practitioner/ Consultant (Hospitals, LTC, and Behavioral Health).
In 1982, I transitioned to the role of independent contractor (d/b/a Public Health Associates) providing comprehensive infection prevention and control services to mental health facilities (MI and MRDD) in Eastern Missouri. After receiving my RN, I worked for several years as a staff nurse, charge nurse and PRN shift supervisor. In 2003, I expanded my services as an independent contractor to include nursing and performance improvement. In 2017, I relocated from the St. Louis area to northern Michigan. I retired December 2023 but continue to mentor UMICH MPH epidemiology candidates and participate in volunteer activities in my community.
