Through the University of Wisconsin Madison Medical Education Partnership Initiative, APIC badger chapter members identified a new contact in Ethiopia. The contact was requesting infection control educational and networking opportunities. In addition to providing international infection control contacts and online resources, the chapter shipped two cases of infection control educational CDs.

WI Annual APIC Conference

One of the four WI Chapters hosts the annual Wisconsin APIC conference which Badger APIC has been involved since the beginning. Members serve on different. This alliance provides the opportunity for us to bring national expert speakers to Wisconsin focused on current, cutting edge topics. Most importantly, all the monies earned from the conference are returned to the chapters which in turn provide scholarships to members to attend IP educational offerings. Badger Chapter uses the money to support our sister chapter.

Badger APIC Vendor Program

Although Badger APIC cannot endorse specific products, the Vendor Program is a great opportunity for venders to present their product information to a targeted audience on a one-to-one basis. A space with tables is provided to the vendor, to display materials during our bi-monthly meetings during the lunch hour for a fee. This money is put back into our scholarship program to support our members. The program provides an opportunity for members from small facilities to learn about new products they may never see, especially those members from long-term care who are often overlooked by vendors. The partnership with vendors also gives our industry partners an opportunity to have the undivided attention of members who are continually have to do more with less and often can’t carve out the time to see vendors at their facilities. Bringing our industry partners to the meetings has demonstrated an innovative solution to supporting our members and provides a unique opportunity for our vendors as well.
